Red, Yellow and Blue Installation by Orly Genger at deCordova

How did artist Orly Genger manage to  install more than a million feet of hand-crocheted lobster fishing rope throughout the grounds of deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, Massachusetts?  What inspired the creation of this grand-scale work of art?   The deCordova website offers answers to these questions, along with dramatic photos of each of the three connected sections and a video of an earlier installation in New York City.

Below are some photos of young children and adults responding to the art work in an activity session organized by deCordova education staff in November 2013.

The slide show here includes a few moments during several October days devoted to  installing Genger’s extensive piece . Red, Yellow and Blue  will remain in the  sculpture park through winter, spring, and summer 2014.
