Dreams and other Themes Connect Seventeen Sculptures in Riverway Park, through August 2025

I am lucky to live near enough to enjoy this engaging exhibit throughout July and August. Before June ends, I’m posting quotes, links and a few samples to lead you there in person or at least online!  “Studios Without Walls, a Brookline nonprofit, is sponsoring Dream Upon the River, its 26th annual exhibition. Twenty-one local artists have created site-specific works of art that will remain on view at Riverway Park throughout the summer.” (till Sept 1)

Extinction Rebellion Mural in Arlington: Powerful, Beautiful, Mysterious, Compelling

My visit to this compelling mural in Walgreen’s parking lot at 324 Massachusetts Ave, Arlington, MA on March 22 expanded my awareness of what people can do with art. The video below, about the completion celebration in October 2024, gives very valuable background. I hope the quotes, links and photos convey the mural’s powers.

Lucky to live near these three colorful sculptures swaying beneath their trees, I hope to revisit many times and stand inside for their stunning views. Now that I’ve sensed their sustaining presence, I want to quickly spread the word to anyone who has the chance to visit or connect somehow. See Six Sculptures by Melvin Edwards in Different Seasons at deCordova before they Leave this Spring!!

The deCordova Sculpture Park is a great place to take in several selected works by one artist, especially Melvin Edwards! You can get close to all sides of each artwork and recognize connections to related sculptures within your view. Circle them on snowshoes or other ways this winter; stroll among them in the spring. Feeling lucky to live so near, I’ll pass along related links, quotes, and photos now.
