Applaud Process and Progress: Rixy’s “The Midnight Ride” Mural in Dewey Square
During two enlightening, exciting events beneath the mural in progress, I only wished my iPhone could capture a close-up of the artist Rixy high up on the boom lift at work on “The Midnight Ride,” Luckily, as of June 4, the WBUR newsletter contains that important image and also writing that heightens the drama of such grand-scale creation! My main reason for posting now is to share the link below, along with quotes, key resources (including notes about her team of artists), plus a few photos from my phone.
Daphne Xu’s Photo Exhibition in Chin Park Offers Valuable Perspectives on History: “Boston Busing in Chinatown, 1975″
Viewing these ten large-scale photos in the park led me to learn more and realize what I had never understood before. This power of public art on the Greenway now leads me to share the following quotes and resources, especially the important booklet “Boston Busing in Chinatown, 1975 -2025″!
Sense the Presence of Dramatic Sculpture by Wesley Wofford: “Hope Out of Darkness”
With only the rest of December left to view this monumental sculpture on the Greenway, I want to post now, without waiting for better photos from my phone. If you can get to Boston’s waterfront this month, don’t miss the experience of getting as close as possible to this inspiring being! If not, you can enjoy the compelling photos and information in Public Art at the Greenway website, plus other Key Resources listed below. I hope the quotes here will guide you.
“PlanTable” in Chin Park Serves Many Important Purposes
Quotes and photos below focus on a few features. Links at the end lead to more. “At a time when cities like Boston face intensifying summer heat and widening environmental disparities, PlanTable offers a living, participatory response—merging ecology, culture, and community in one dynamic space. This multidisciplinary project, presented in partnership with Pao Arts Center, emerges from a deep collaboration between artists, designers, community advocates, and climate thinkers. ” ( Quote from Greenway Public Art, PlanTable)
Celestial Garden in Dewey Square Connects WINTERACTIVE with Greenway Public Art
Enticing, exciting ,engaging, Celestial Garden is one of fifteen artworks installed for WINTERACTIVE 2025 through March 30. Celestial Garden’s graceful interplay of music, motion, and mystery invited me to explore around the largest sphere and peer through the portals at the shifting scenes inside. I’m eager to return and to visit other WINTERACTIVE art as well! Quotes and links here offer information and perspective to guide you through a rewarding experience.

Look Back at Daniel Gordon’s Dewey Square Mural on the Greenway 2021
Though I visited and photographed Daniel Gordon’s art on the Greenway in 2021, I didn’t get to post about it. I kept meaning to go back for better photos and then the art was gone. But there are better photos and valuable perspectives in the Key Resources from Wonderland, WBUR, and Daniel Gordon’s own website, all quoted and listed here. Also now I want to document the transformations created by all nine Dewey Square murals in the past ten years.
