TAPPED IN” is an innovative art installation at the intersection of art and science that combines outdoor public art with an indoor educational gallery display.  Inspired by the concept of ‘edges’ in ecosystems, “TAPPED IN” celebrates the dynamic intersections where diverse influences meet, bringing together ten artist-scientist pairs* to offer fresh perspectives on climate change, CO2 mitigation and action.”   ( quote from The Umbrella Arts TAPPED IN)

Impressively prepared Youth Guides offered tours of TAPPED IN during Youth Forward Climate Action Day, April 20, when I visited. Their engaging, enlightening tours certainly enhanced visitors’ understanding and appreciation of the whole exhibit!

*To include all ten significant artist-scientist pairings, I plan to post twice more about TAPPED IN with focus on three or four different pairs each time.

Regenerate by artist Raquel Fornasaro with scientist John Sterman:

The Plastic Wave by artist Lisa Barthelson with scientist Juliana Birnbaum:

Step-Up by artist Nancy Selvage with scientist Josh Goldman:

STEP-UP is a footprint-shaped perforated metal sculpture that will gradually become greener as participants attach carbon reduction pledges to the surface. Written on a green translucent footprint-shaped material, the pledges will be placed along curving lines to suggest growing foliage and to echo Greener Grazing’s vertical farming techniques.“(quote from Umbrella Arts Tapped In statements)
