Art Ramble in Brister’s Hill, Walden Woods, Weaving an Address, sequel: Curator Talk by Marla McLeod Opens Eyes to Art on the Ground and among the Branches
On May 25, a wondrously worthwhile walk led by Marla McLeod, as curator and artist, added greatly to my awareness of the art on Brister’s Hill. I had already posted based on a solo walk and online research, but Marla shaped my vision for this sequel. Here are photos from her Curator Talk*, plus my promised focus on three artists not shown in the first post: Ekua Holmes, Perla Mabel, and Anthony Peyton Young.

This third post about “TAPPED IN” completes my plan to focus on artwork by all ten artist-scientist pairs in the exhibit. The pairs represented here are Mags Harries/ Nadia Szeinbaum, Victor Pacheco /Paul Kirshen, and Casey Figueroa /Terrius Harris.

Connect with “Tapped-In” Outdoors, Indoors, and Online
This second post about “TAPPED IN” opens with an update about important connections between the outdoor installation and the indoor gallery space. The indoor gallery presented images, materials and explanatory text for each outdoor artwork and the whole exhibit theme. In early May, all indoor elements for “TAPPED IN” gave way to a different exhibit in the gallery space. All outdoor art remains up through June 8. Key resources* for “TAPPED IN” continue on the Umbrella Arts website. However, one of the ten artist-scientist pairs’ work was only represented in the indoor space. That was the compelling wall display by Ilana Manolson with Janine Benyus.

Whether I post again before the final day, November 19, I intend to revisit and reflect on significant connections between the forest and the artworks!
Revisit 2022 ART RAMBLE, “IN THE BALANCE,” through November 19!
The first post about Art Rambe 2022 gives a brief overview, plus photos and notes about work by five of the eleven artists. This second post follows with focus on three other artists. A third post, coming soon, should include installations by three more. Each artist’s website should take you to additional views of their installations and more comprehensive information about their creative work. Whether or not I post beyond those, Art Ramble 2022 is sure to yield new discoveries as autumn advances.
Connect to Concord with “Change is in the Air: Art Walk” through May
Following the map for Umbrella Artfest Earth Day Art Walk has greatly added to my own awareness of Concord as well as the artists who created installations for the six stops listed. Because Art Walk has been up for a week with just a few more ahead, I’ll post quickly now. I want to spread the word so people who live close enough can go before it’s gone. Then I’ll hope to post a more comprehensive sequel later in May, including one key installation* I didn’t get to visit yet.
Art Ramble 2019 Creates Connections in Concord Town Forest
Six weeks over and just two weeks left, I took the golden opportunity of a sunlit October morning to take the trail through Hapgood-Wright Town Forest around Fairyland Pond and enjoy fourteen temporary art installations connected by the theme, Witnessing Change. I hope to go again before it ends November 1 and to convince anyone who can to go as well. Each stop on Art Ramble 2019 offers an enlightening way to engage with some aspect of the forest.
